A lawyer, opening a popcorn shop? Curious career plot twist to be sure. But when you meet Shamus and his son Conor, it all makes sense. As the father of an inquisitive, chatty, exceptionally social 20-something with Autism, Shamus found the job market surprisingly closed off to Conor and similar young adults. So he decided to change that.
We wanted Highland Popcorn to feel unlike any popcorn shop you’ve ever experienced, in the best possible way. So we gave it a playful popcorn-y logo, bold palette, whimsical illustration style and fun flavor names that make you want to try them all. Then we designed a positive, encouraging, social store environment where all members of the uniquely qualified workforce could maximize their potential.
The engaging playfulness of the brand elements came to life inside the shop, with oversized wall graphics and colorful merch displays. Modular bench-and-pillow seating in the middle moves out of the way for events. And café tables along the perimeter invite you to sit and share with the kids or meet a friend.
We continued to bring the brand personality forward with team uniforms and enamel pins, sandwich boards, stickers and swag. A cheery, chatty brand voice, and bubbly, popcorn-inspired graphics with drizzle accents and a pop-art feel give the brand a distinctive flair all its own. (Ye olde popcorn cart, this is not.)
